eDreams ODIGEO’s new technology and innovation strategy successfully accelerates its development delivery times by 70%

  • The implementation of the company’s new cutting-edge product and technology program has driven more than 1.000 releases in the last fiscal year, and a record 130 in March 2017, whilst reducing costs for each release by up to 84%


  •  New product development cycles introduced by the online travel group have sped up and significantly increased the company’s ability to develop and release new products and features


Barcelona, 17th May 2017- eDreams ODIGEO, one of the world’s largest online travel companies, has completed the implementation of a new Technology and Product strategy, an initiative that has already proved successful by tripling product launch rates.

Over the past year, the company has reduced its development delivery times by up to 70%, which has resulted in significant growth in the number of products and releases delivered across its 143 websites worldwide. The rate at which new releases are launched has tripled, with eDreams ODIGEO delivering a record 130 releases in March 2017, totalling at over 1.000 in the last fiscal year.

As part of this new process, eDreams ODIGEO’s 400 in-house developers – one of the largest teams of its kind in the European travel industry – have been organised in 50 autonomous teams, making use of advanced agile methodologies such as Kanban to improve development speed. With this new approach, the company now has the capacity to run up to 3600 simultaneous tests per day.

As a result, eDreams ODIGEO has significantly reduced the time lapse between the ideation and product launch phases, which can now be performed in as quickly as 15 minutes. Development speed and scale are important factors that have allowed the company to produce a wider range of ideas, and innovate much faster than competitors.

By successfully automating its testing process to save significant resources, the company is now able to focus its development capacity on key strategic initiatives aimed at improving the products and services offered to the 17 million customers served by eDreams ODIGEO each year.
